Our father Mr Peter H. Tresidder was the Borough Engineer, Surveyor and Water Engineer of Penzance from 1960 until March 31st 1974. His qualifications were:-

Chartered Surveyor and Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS)

Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers(FICE)

Following the Ash Wednesday storm (1962) repairs were carried out under the direction of the Borough Engineer and Surveyor.

Contractors Gray, Conoley and Co. from Falmouth worked on the promenade and sea wall from the Jubilee Pool to Wherrytown and at the South Pier at the harbour.

Contractor Cornwall County Council repaired Tolcarne Sea Wall.

Contractors Venn Bros.Ltd. of Penzance repaired Gurnick Street, Mousehole.

The new Sea Wall was designed by Lewis & Duvivier, Consulting Engineers and constructed by Conoley & Co.Ltd.

The official opening of the new promenade by Alderman K.G.Foster, Chairman of the Cornwall County Council took place on Friday 31st March 1967. Our father's name is on the commemorative stone which is on the wall to the left of the slipway adjacent to the cafe end of the pool.
