Fred Jilbert July 1943.

Fred was using the area where the pool was built for swimming before the building of the pool commenced. Fred saved many peoples lives in the water. For this he was awarded money, which he donated towards the building of the pool. Fred was an official of penzance swimming club 1935 onwards.Fred was a well known exhibition diver along with his sons Fred (junior), Ken, Edward and Roy jilbert.

Fred also trained young champion divers. Fred was a very well known figure in the community, an official for the swimming club for many years and was obviously around from the very start of the pool itself.
